Paw-Some Designs: Pet-Friendly Spaces and People-Friendly Style

Here at Timeless Design, we all want our furry friends to be comfortable and happy in our homes. However, sometimes it can be challenging to create a space that accommodates both pets and humans. This is where thoughtful interior design can come in to help. When designing a space with your pets in mind, consider the materials and fabrics used in your furniture and décor. Opt for durable materials like performance fabrics that are easy to clean and won't get damaged easily by claws or fur.

“Even the texture of the upholstery fabric should be taken into account. Loosely woven fabrics catch claws and cause damage to the pet as well as the piece of furniture.” says interior designer Kate FitzGerald-Wilks.

Another way to design with pets in mind is to incorporate specific areas for them to relax and play. For example, you could create a cozy nook with a pet bed, toys, and a scratching post for your cat. Or, you could install a built-in feeding station for your dog that is easy to clean and keeps their food and water bowls out of the way. With a little bit of planning and consideration, you can create a space that is not only stylish and functional for humans but also comfortable and accommodating for your pets.
